We all know that every corner of Cefalù hides a treasure; that is the reason why it’s fundamental to stay in a facility that allows its guests to get easily to the main attractions, the ones that make the hamlet unique: in this sense, Nooria enjoys a geographical position that is nothing short of enviable. If you’re staying with us and you have some time on your hands, you can simply choose to get lost among the hamlet’s little streets and let yourself be surprised by what you will come across; although, if you are running out of time or you simply prefer to follow a more precise path, here’s an itinerary that will help you visit by foot some of the most significant Cefalù’s places of interest.

Leaving our structure, the first stop will be the Osterio Magno, first residence of Roger II, an imposing structure of great historical value, which later became Ventimiglia family’s house. After seeing some wonders that will carry you to another era, you can continue your journey reaching Piazza Garibaldi and, after that, via Ruggero, a lively road that well represents Cefalù, lined by handcraft and souvenir shops, until you find on your right the most important town’s gem: the Cathedral of Cefalù. Here, a touristic visit is a must: inside there’s the famous Christ Pantocrator mosaic, surrounded by gold details and sacred representations of high-value.

At this point you can proceed towards the seaside, until you reach the megalithic walls, the city walls ruins that since the 5th century BC protected Cefalù. It is said that the hamlet was impregnable precisely because of these walls that are 3 meters high, the ruins of which are still accesible today. From here, in just a few steps you can reach the bastion of Capo Marchiafava, the highest spot of the city walls, topped by a polygonal based platform with a point directed towards the sea, that offers a splendid viewpoint over the blue of the gulf.

Admiring such wonderful scenery, it would be no wonder if you felt like taking a dip in that blue. In this case, you can choose to come back to via Carlo Ortolani di Bordonaro or to keep going on along the beach to reach the tourist dock. Here you can finally take a dip and enjoy the sicilian sun relaxing yourself on the beach. When you’ve had enogh, you can come back to the historic center crossing one of the four gates that in ancient times allowed the direct access to the sea from the hamlet, that is Porta Pescara, one of the most suggestive and photographed places of Cefalù. A picture in here, indeed, it’s withot a doubt a must.

Once you came back to via Vittorio Emanuele, the most characteristique street of the hamlet, with its several bars and typical shops, you can go on for some meters until reaching the medieval wash-house, where in ancient times women used to do the laundry. Finally, continuing further on the same road, you will reach to the Municiple Theater “Salvatore Cicero” of Cefalù, where the director Giuseppe Tornatore shoot the film “Cinema Paradiso”, the wonderful film which won the oscar in 1990.
